Review from Anthony Conroy

May 10, 2016

“A new chapter has been written on the evolution of the American Lawnmower. A truly amazing reference book which is totally unique, and from the country which pioneered the Automotive industry one could be forgiven for thinking there must be many publications on the subject on the History of Lawn Mowers in the USA, but not so, a serious piece of history with a long manufacturing heritage had been overlooked that is until Ricci embarked on this project, which has now been documented in a very attractive publication, as a fellow collector from Australia I congratulate the author on his ‘fair dinkum’ knowledge on the subject and extensive research.”

News from smokstak.com:

“A good friend, Jim Ricci, finally published his book on the history of reel-type mowers, called Hand, Horse, and Motor. I just received mine a couple days ago, and I can see why it took him so many years to get it done. It’s 241 pages and has history on every company that even thought about producing a mower, going back into the 1800s, with lots of pictures too. It’s definitely worth the investment.”
